NewsNation Programming Specialist | Nexstar Media Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Nexstar Media Group, primarily based in the office on-site. Nexstar Media Group operates multiple television networks, delivering news and programming to audiences nationwide. This specialist position is vital for maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of programming schedules across these networks, ensuring smooth broadcast operations and viewer satisfaction.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Schedule Management: Maintain and distribute daily, weekly, and long-range programming schedules across multiple networks.
• Data Entry and Inventory: Build and update schedules in SIMS, including episodic data entry, inventory management, and ongoing schedule maintenance.
• Event Coordination: Coordinate programming events, including premieres, marathons, stunts, specials, and all schedule changes.
• Metadata Communication: Maintain accurate programming metadata and communicate updates to listings providers and internal teams.
• Compliance and Conflict Resolution: Process FCC compliance certifications, assist with regulatory reporting, and identify and resolve scheduling conflicts with internal departments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Broadcast Management, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in television programming, scheduling, programming operations, or traffic within a broadcast television environment. This includes working knowledge of SIMS programming and scheduling software.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office, strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Bonus: Experience scheduling multiple television networks simultaneously, familiarity with FCC regulations and broadcast standards, and knowledge of television listings services, metadata providers, and Nielsen ratings.
