Senior Associate – Scrum Master / Test Lead | New York Life Insurance Company

What You’ll Actually Do
• Facilitate: Serve as Scrum Master, guiding agile ceremonies and managing team priorities, dependencies, and commitments with the Product Owner.
• Lead: Drive quality and testing efforts throughout releases, from planning and test case readiness to defect management and user acceptance testing coordination.
• Implement: Introduce and advance modern quality engineering practices like shift-left testing, test automation, and AI-driven testing to foster rapid feedback loops.
• Communicate: Report sprint progress, delivery metrics, quality trends, risks, and release readiness to both technology and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate: Cultivate strong collaboration among developers, testers, Product Owners, and business partners, continuously seeking to improve agile and testing methodologies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, for a senior-level technology role.
• Experience: 7+ years of technology delivery experience, with demonstrated experience in agile delivery/Scrum and software testing or quality engineering.
• Skills: Strong understanding of Scrum, agile planning, backlog management, sprint execution, retrospectives, and continuous improvement; experience leading or coordinating testing activities including test planning, defect management, release readiness, test automation, and shift-left principles; proven ability to collaborate with Product Owners, engineering teams, testers, business stakeholders, and leadership; excellent communication, facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Bonus: Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe Scrum Master, or related agile certification; experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar agile lifecycle management tools; experience with AI-driven testing, test automation, or emerging quality engineering technologies; experience supporting enterprise modernization, financial services, insurance, or compensation-related technology initiatives.
