The Tone:
This is a full-time Staff Accountant role with Soni, supporting a growing organization located in Franklin Lakes, NJ. This position is central to the organization’s daily accounting operations, playing a key part in the essential month-end close process, financial reconciliations, and comprehensive reporting. The Staff Accountant will contribute significantly to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring smooth accounting functions, and supporting overall general accounting operations. What You’ll Actually Do
• Close Process: Support the full monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met for financial reporting.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Review P&L and balance sheet activity in detail, assisting with comprehensive variance analysis and reporting to key stakeholders.
• Record Keeping & Reconciliation: Prepare accurate journal entries, detailed accruals, and their essential supporting schedules, alongside executing thorough bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Operational Accounting: Support the management of fixed assets, maintain prepaid schedules, and assist with various tax-related filings and internal controls.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with the accounting, finance, and operations teams, while also supporting ad hoc accounting projects as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Entry-Level understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, P&L, and balance sheet activity.
• Experience: At least 1 year of accounting experience is preferred. This role seeks an up-and-coming accountant ready for broader corporate exposure and growth.
• Skills: Strong Excel proficiency for data analysis and reporting, exceptional attention to detail ensuring accuracy in all financial documentation, robust organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and strong communication and follow-through to collaborate with various teams.
• Bonus: Experience gained in public accounting; actively pursuing or holding a CPA designation; practical experience with ERP systems; specific exposure to month-end close, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, or tax preparation; or prior work within a growing or multi-location business environment.
