What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Maintain the organization’s general ledger system meticulously, which includes preparing and accurately recording all necessary journal entries to reflect financial transactions.
• Account Reconciliation: Perform comprehensive monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations. This critical task is essential for verifying the accuracy of financial statements, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring all accounts are correctly balanced and aligned with supporting documentation.
• Financial Close Assistance: Provide crucial assistance during the monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial close processes. This involves ensuring all transactions are recorded, accounts are reconciled, and necessary adjustments are made to prepare for accurate financial reporting within established deadlines.
• Regulatory Compliance: Uphold strict compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and adhere to all internal control procedures. This responsibility is vital for maintaining financial transparency, mitigating risks, and ensuring the organization’s financial operations meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Variance Analysis & AP/AR Support: Conduct thorough analysis of variances between budgeted and actual costs, providing insights into financial performance. Additionally, support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions by assisting with processing payments, managing incoming funds, and preparing accruals to ensure comprehensive financial representation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An early-career accounting professional with a solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, ready to contribute to the financial operations of an influential organization. The ideal candidate will have a foundational knowledge base suitable for immediate application in a non-profit setting.
• Experience: Demonstrated capability in managing core accounting functions, including experience with general ledger maintenance, journal entry preparation, and performing financial reconciliations. Prior exposure to or a strong interest in the specific financial reporting needs of non-profit entities is advantageous.
• Skills: Proficiency in maintaining detailed general ledger records, accurately preparing and posting journal entries, and executing precise monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.
