Assurance Intern – Summer 2027 (Anchorage) | BDO USA

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at BDO USA, located in Anchorage, AK. BDO is a firm providing assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and around the world, building strong relationships with care, curiosity, and a commitment to helping others grow and succeed. This role offers an opportunity for energetic self-starters to gain a unique hands-on perspective on the firm’s practices, begin to utilize their educational background, and forge critical professional relationships. Interns contribute to the firm’s purpose of helping clients grow with confidence.

• Mission: Assist more experienced team members in problem-solving and fact-finding, contributing to audit processes and client support.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Training: Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
• Audit Support: Apply BDO specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process and provide support functions to the audit staff during engagements.
• Client Communication: Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Documentation: Prepare and document work in working papers utilizing BDO specific tools and templates.
• Research Project: Complete one assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting.
• Experience: Entry-level, with leadership experience preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to follow instructions, and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Bonus: Pursuing a master’s degree in Accounting, actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
