General Accountant | Marriott International

The Tone:
This is a full-time, non-management role for a General Accountant at Marriott International, located in Greensboro, Georgia. As part of a global hospitality leader with over 100 award-winning properties worldwide, including The Ritz-Carlton, this position plays a foundational role in upholding the company’s financial integrity. The General Accountant is responsible for meticulous financial record-keeping, accurate data processing, and efficient cash management, directly contributing to the smooth operation and “Gold Standards” of luxury service that define The Ritz-Carlton brand within Marriott International. This role is essential for maintaining precision in all financial aspects of the property.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Accuracy: Thoroughly check all figures, postings, and financial documents for accuracy to prevent discrepancies and ensure data reliability.
• Record Management: Organize, secure, and meticulously maintain all company files, records, cash, and cash equivalents, adhering strictly to established policies and procedures.
• Data Classification: Classify, code, and accurately summarize numerical and financial data, utilizing journals, ledgers, and computer systems to compile and keep comprehensive financial records.
• Report Generation: Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute a variety of statistical, financial, accounting, auditing, and payroll reports and tables as specified by period-end closing procedures.
• Cash Operations & Reconciliation: Prepare daily consolidated deposits of cash received by all cash handling employees, administer all cashier banks and contracts, and manage the preparation, review, reconciliation, and issuance of bills, invoices, and account statements, including resolving past due accounts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level position requiring a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Candidates should possess core domain knowledge in general accounting principles and practices.
• Experience: At least 1 year of relevant work experience in an accounting or finance support capacity is required. No prior supervisory experience is necessary for this role.
• Skills: Essential skills include meticulous attention to detail for checking financial figures, strong organizational abilities for record keeping and file management, proficiency in data classification and summarization, experience in preparing various financial reports, and capabilities in cash handling, billing, and account reconciliation.
