Staff Accountant | firstPRO, Inc

This is a hybrid Staff Accountant opportunity with firstPRO, Inc, located in the vibrant Philadelphia, PA area. The role is with a large, growing professional services organization, offering a chance to be an integral part of their financial operations. • Mission: To support core accounting functions, assist in maintaining accurate financial records, and contribute to the overall fiscal management of a professional services organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Deposits: Accurately prepare and process bank deposits, meticulously ensuring all funds are accounted for and correctly recorded within the financial system to maintain precise cash flow records.
• Reconciliations & Entries: Provide essential assistance with the preparation of various reconciliations and the recording of journal entries, helping to ensure the integrity and balance of financial accounts.
• Grant Accounting: Support critical grant accounting functions, contributing to the accurate tracking and reporting of funds designated for specific programs and initiatives.
• Invoice Processing: Efficiently enter and accurately code invoices into the financial system, playing a key role in the accounts payable process and vendor management.
• Discrepancy Resolution: Research and investigate any identified accounting discrepancies, working to resolve issues promptly and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
• Financial Support: Offer valuable assistance across various financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions, as needed to support team objectives.
• Audit Preparation: Contribute to the comprehensive preparation for the annual year-end audit, ensuring all necessary documentation and financial statements are in order for external review.
• Reporting: Generate detailed Excel reports for management, providing key financial insights and data to support informed decision-making and operational oversight.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates should possess a foundational understanding of general ledger accounting, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration being preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in general ledger accounting is required, providing a solid base for the responsibilities of this role.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in advanced Excel features, including the use of vlookups and pivot tables, is highly advantageous, alongside a proven track record of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in financial tasks.
• Bonus: Prior experience within the non-profit industry is considered a significant plus, offering valuable perspective to the role’s responsibilities, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is strongly preferred.
