Revenue Accountant | State of Oklahoma

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, located in Oklahoma City, OK. This Revenue Accountant position is crucial for the financial operations of the department, involving professional-level work in the maintenance, analysis, interpretation, and management of financial accounting data. • Mission: Responsible for professional-level work in the maintenance, analysis, interpretation, and management of financial accounting data.

What You’ll Actually Do
Financial Analysis & Projections: Review, analyze, and meticulously present diverse financial data to determine funding requirements, encompassing revenue projections and detailed expenditure reports for departmental operations.
Reporting & Statement Preparation: Prepare comprehensive financial statements, reports of operations, various expenditure reports, and statistical data, alongside assisting in the crucial process of gathering and reviewing data for budget work programs. This also involves the preparation and posting of various journals, ledgers, and accounts.
Fiscal Record Management: Maintain a variety of financial accounting records including ledgers, journals, and registers. This includes accurately allocating revenues to appropriate functions and classifying expenditures for proper posting to different accounts as required.
Transaction Processing & Reconciliation: Review and process expense vouchers, invoices, and other fiscal documents for payment, ensuring compliance and accuracy. This also involves reconciling various financial reports and data related to fiscal operations to maintain consistency.
Payroll Operations: Determine precise payroll requirements, maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll data, and efficiently prepare and process monthly payrolls in accordance with established procedures and regulations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A bachelor’s degree is required in accounting, business, finance, or a closely related field. This role is designed for an entry-level professional building skills in financial information management and applying generally accepted accounting principles.
• Experience: This is an entry-level position; however, an equivalent combination of education and experience is considered, with one year of bookkeeping experience substituting for each year of the required degree. This includes foundational experience in maintaining financial information and processing routine transactions.
• Skills: Possess a strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and theories, foundational to all financial operations. Demonstrate an understanding of financial statements and reports, crucial for accurate fiscal communication. Be proficient in the use of accounting ledgers and journals for record-keeping. Exhibit familiarity with computer technology as it relates to accounting systems. Ability to prepare basic financial statements and reports effectively. Ability to accurately review and analyze complex financial information. Ability to maintain routine accounting data meticulously within appropriate ledgers and journals.
