What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliation: Work with client personnel to reconcile account differences and analyze financial data.
• Preparation: Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, or other tax returns.
• Calculation: Calculate tax extension or estimating payments.
• Participation: Participate in client meetings alongside Forvis Mazars partners and managers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate positions require a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting. Candidates must be actively pursuing the education requirements to become a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state where the Dallas office is located. This includes the completion of 150 required academic credit hours prior to the role’s start date and eligibility to sit for the CPA exam in that state. A solid foundation of technical accounting knowledge is also essential.
• Experience: This is an early career opportunity for accounting students. While specific years of professional experience are not required, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to seeking a full-time role in Tax. Reliable transportation to and from the assigned office, along with the ability to attend off-site meetings and events in person, is necessary. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, as verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Skills: Key capabilities include effective time management, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. A problem-solving attitude, a willingness to take initiative, and close attention to detail are crucial. Candidates must also possess the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bonus: Preference will be given to candidates who have completed prior internships in a public accounting firm, specifically performing tax-related work.
