Tax Associate, Business Incentives Group – Summer 2027 (Atlanta) | BDO USA

The Tone:
This is a Summer Associate role within the Business Incentives Group (BIG) at BDO USA, located in Atlanta, GA. BDO is a professional services firm offering assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and globally. The BIG practice is a premiere national consulting group that has experienced significant growth, doubling in the last three years and tripling in the last six. This role is central to BDO’s core purpose of helping people thrive by assisting companies and individuals in identifying, documenting, and claiming government incentives. These incentives are designed to foster innovation, economic growth, job creation, and support sustainability and green initiatives across diverse industries like technology, manufacturing, and healthcare. As an Associate, you will contribute to this mission while developing skills to become a trusted advisor, collaborating with both BDO professionals and client innovation leaders.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Engagement: Proactively assist in the execution of multiple client engagements to identify and secure government incentives.
• Collaboration & Innovation: Collaborate with other BIG professionals to develop and implement better strategies and processes for services and marketing.
• Relationship Management: Establish effective working relationships with internal BDO employees and external clients.
• Professional Development: Contribute to the development of your own technical acumen and enhance BIG’s market prominence.
• Business Development: Actively participate in business development activities to expand professional networks and research opportunities for new and existing clients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree, with a preferred focus in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Communications, or Law.
• Experience: No specific years required; an accounting-based internship is preferred.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; superior organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment; strong initiative and drive.
• Bonus: Leadership experience; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word.
