Tax Associate | H&R Block

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Engagement: Meet with clients to gather essential information and understand their unique tax situation.
• Return Preparation: Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.
• Tax Explanation: Explain complex tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand.
• Savings Identification: Identify potential tax savings opportunities for clients and recommend relevant products and services.
• Issue Resolution: Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school diploma / GED / equivalent. Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course.
• Experience: Interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment. No prior tax experience is required.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs; Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions; Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services; Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on customer needs; Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods; Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season.
