Intern Finance Specialist (SAP) – 2027 | IBM

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at IBM, located in-person, at an IBM Consulting FutureNow Center. IBM is a global technology and consulting company that provides deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients worldwide. They build solutions and accelerate development using technology and AI. This role is crucial for helping clients solve real-world business challenges by applying finance and accounting knowledge, while gaining hands-on exposure to SAP and modernizing financial processes.

• Team: SAP practice, working alongside experienced SAP consultants, finance professionals, and technology specialists
• Mission: To help clients solve real-world business challenges by applying finance and accounting knowledge, while gaining hands-on exposure to SAP and learning to modernize financial processes.
• Tech Stack: SAP, Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, analytics, cloud technologies, enterprise platforms, spreadsheets, business intelligence, data visualization, ERP concepts

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support finance and business teams in understanding financial processes, requirements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
• Analyze: Analyze financial and business requirements to understand how they are translated into SAP-enabled solutions.
• Apply: Apply finance and accounting knowledge to understand how transactions and processes contribute to financial reporting, controls, analysis, and decision-making.
• Assist: Assist with SAP testing, data validation, documentation, issue resolution, and solution implementation activities under guidance.
• Contribute: Contribute to finance process improvement and transformation initiatives designed to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and business performance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration with a concentration in Finance or Accounting, or a closely related business field.
• Experience: Foundational knowledge in core finance and accounting concepts, such as financial reporting, general accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cost management, or financial analysis, gained through coursework, academic projects, or other practical learning.
• Skills: Ability to analyze financial and business information to identify trends or problems and apply structured problem-solving; effective collaboration with teammates and clear communication of financial and business information.
• Bonus: Exposure to finance or accounting concepts through internships, academic projects, or other practical learning experiences; familiarity with financial analysis, reporting, modeling, spreadsheets, or business analytics; interest in SAP Finance, AI, automation, or enterprise technology.
