Emerging Professional Program Associate (STEP) | Irby Utilities

The Tone:
This is a full-time, intensive rotational program with Irby Utilities, involving travel to various company locations. Irby Utilities is one of America’s largest utility distribution organizations, uniquely positioned to provide essential utility services in local and broader communities by connecting manufacturers to customers in electrical power, natural gas, and broadband. The Sonepar Training for Emerging Professionals Program (STEP) is designed to educate, train, and develop skills in emerging professionals, establishing their careers through comprehensive hands-on experience. This role is crucial for fostering future leaders who will gain deep insights into business operations, strategies, and present on key organizational initiatives to executive leadership.

The TL;DR

What You’ll Actually Do
• Warehouse/Logistics Operations: Gain comprehensive hands-on experience in logistical and operational support, engaging in on-the-job training and residency trips to understand the flow of utility distribution from site operations.
• Inside Sales and Customer Solutions: Develop advanced skills in client interaction and problem-solving, contributing to sales strategies and processes through e-learning and direct customer solutions engagement.
• Corporate Operations and Analytics: Acquire an in-depth understanding of corporate functions, including procurement, project management, and data analysis, gaining exposure to the Operating Company’s business philosophy.
• Outside Sales/Account Management: Cultivate expertise in strategic client acquisition, relationship building, and account management, applying sales strategies and fostering business acumen through mentor programs.
• Role Specialization: Conclude the program with focused expertise in a chosen business area, informed by subject matter expert training, culminating in a presentation to the Executive Leadership team on key strategic organizational initiatives.

• Background: Entry-Level; this program is specifically designed for emerging professionals, with a planned start date in June 2027.
• Experience: No prior professional experience is required; the program itself provides extensive on-the-job, e-learning, and subject matter expert training.
