Staff Accountant | Myers & Stauffer

The Tone:

What You’ll Actually Do
• Auditing: Perform reviews of Medicaid provider cost reports and conduct reimbursement calculations.
• Analysis: Analyze health care provider financial information to determine billing and reimbursement compliance with relevant program regulations.
• Documentation: Prepare written documents that support professional decisions and maintain thorough electronic working papers in accordance with standards.
• Fieldwork: Conduct desk reviews and various on-site audits, completing all phases including planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, and reporting of findings.
• Compliance Research: Research applicable Federal and State policies and regulations associated with specific audit types prior to performing audits.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Experience: Internship or equivalent working experience in accounting or a related field; experience with health care auditing and data analysis is preferred.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; well-organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments; proficient use of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Bonus: Master’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA or CPA candidate; ability to review statutory/regulatory or other policy language and apply requirements; ability to travel based on client and business needs.
