The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Venteon’s client, located on the east side of metro Detroit. Our client is a growing real estate investment and development company that provides a first-class office setting. This position offers a motivated individual an excellent career opportunity within a diverse accounting role in a small group environment.

The TL;DR
• Role: Early Career
• Location: In-person, Detroit Metropolitan Area
• Mission: Track construction costs, manage lender draw requests, and prepare financial statements for real estate development projects.
• Tech Stack: Excel, Word

What You’ll Actually Do
• Construction Cost Management: Track construction cost activity using job cost reports, then bill and collect for multiple new-construction and rehab projects.
• Project Communication: Communicate regularly with construction project managers to gather progress updates for ongoing projects.
• Lender Draws: Prepare and submit monthly construction draw requests to third-party lenders to substantiate spend and facilitate borrowings.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare US GAAP financial statements, applying percentage of completion accounting principles.
• Tax Credit Certifications: Prepare contractor cost certifications for submission to various states for low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) applications.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 1 plus years of experience as an Accountant.
• Experience: Proficiency with financial accounting and general ledger systems.
• Skills: Strong Excel and Word proficiency, excellent communication and analytical skills, highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Bonus: Experience with construction accounting.
