Accounting Clerk | Martin Automotive Group
The Tone:
This is an in-person role at Martin Automotive Group, located in Dayton, OH, specifically supporting Dayton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Martin Automotive Group is a prominent automotive group that provides sales and service within the automotive industry. This Accounting Clerk role is vital to ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the dealership. The successful candidate will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the Controller with essential analyses to meet the facility’s business objectives.

• Mission: Provide critical accounting support by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with sales and expense analyses, and ensuring compliance with financial policies to contribute to the facility’s overall objectives.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Sales Transaction Processing: Accurately write receipts for all car deals, ensuring proper documentation for each transaction.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Post journal entries with precision, contributing to the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting.
• Product Cancellation Management: Efficiently handle warranty cancellations, GAP cancellations, and service contracts, including posting remittances for GAP, Warranty, and Premier products sold.
• Inventory & Account Reconciliation: Monitor and evaluate sheet accounts, performing necessary reconciliations, and meticulously tracking adjustments to inventory accounts to ensure all have proper approvals.
• Administrative & Policy Support: Open and distribute all dealership mail, act as a backup for daily deposits, coordinate programs for safeguarding customer information, and complete necessary onboarding paperwork for new employees.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related financial field, bringing with them a foundational and working knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles.
• Experience: No specific years of prior experience are explicitly required for this role, however, any practical experience in general accounting functions, particularly those related to transactional processing and account reconciliation, will be highly valued.
• Skills: Demonstrated excellent attention to detail, strong organizational abilities to manage various tasks, effective problem-solving capabilities, clear and concise communication skills, and the proven ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a demanding work environment.
• Bonus: Previous professional experience within the automotive industry is strongly preferred, offering a distinct advantage for understanding dealership-specific accounting practices.
