Accounting Associate (Part-Time) | Whataburger

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze: Analyze corporate and segment accounting transactions, researching and explaining account variances.
• Prepare: Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate financial records and documentation.
• Support: Support month-end close activities, including monitoring and reporting key accounting performance metrics, and preparing financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Reconcile: Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts, safeguarding company assets through sound financial practices.
• Collaborate: Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting matters and support special projects and additional accounting assignments as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience, coupled with core domain knowledge in financial data, accounting processes, or administrative support functions.
• Experience: Experience working with financial data, accounting processes, or administrative support functions. Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with experience with account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established accounting procedures, analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, strong organizational and time management skills, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Knowledge of month-end close processes, experience analyzing financial transactions and account activity, familiarity with ERP systems such as JD Edwards, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and a continuous improvement mindset focused on process efficiency.
