What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting & Auditing Engagements: Execute fieldwork procedures for accounting and auditing engagements, which includes conducting client inquiries, performing analytical reviews, and testing financial data.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Take responsibility for the accurate preparation of financial statements for various clients.
• Tax Return Preparation: Prepare a comprehensive range of federal and state income tax returns, covering corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, trusts, estates, and non-profit entities.
• Governmental Filings: Ensure compliance by preparing all other necessary governmental filings as required for clients.
• Core Accounting Functions: Perform fundamental accounting tasks such as bookkeeping and reconciling accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
• Professional Development & Firm Involvement: Actively engage in firm-directed Continuing Professional Education (CPE) and on-the-job training, while also participating in networking activities and developing a personal marketing plan, alongside contributing to in-house special projects or committees.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This early career role requires a Bachelor of Science in Accounting or a closely related degree, demonstrating basic knowledge of core accounting concepts. Candidates should also be on the CPA career track, with a commitment to obtaining a CPA certificate.
• Experience: Applicants must possess 150 relevant credit hours, as required for the CPA Exam. Efficient knowledge and practical application of Microsoft Excel are mandatory for this position.
• Skills: Essential skills include strong computer proficiency, effective communication and interpersonal abilities, a high degree of organization, meticulous attention to detail, and an energetic approach with a desire for continuous learning. The ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment and maintain integrity while handling confidential information is critical, alongside communicating effectively with client employees and management.
• Bonus: A graduate degree such as a Master of Science in Taxation (MST), Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), or another industry-related graduate degree is preferred.
