Financial Planning Analyst | RJ Schinner Co., Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at RJ Schinner Co., Inc., located in Menomonee Falls, WI. RJ Schinner is a established national distributor celebrating 75 years in business, operating 20 distribution centers and employing over 600 people to stock distributors in 48 states with essential goods like paper products, foodservice packaging, and cleaning supplies. This role is crucial for supporting the organization’s financial planning, reporting, and decision-making processes, providing actionable financial insights that drive overall business performance. The TL;DR

• Type: Monday – Friday | In-office only

• Mission: To support the organization’s financial planning, reporting, and decision-making by providing actionable financial insights and maintaining key accounting functions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze Financial Results: Prepare and analyze monthly financial results, including detailed variance analyses and management reporting for stakeholders.
• Support Planning and Forecasting: Assist with the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasting activities, and contribute to long-range financial planning initiatives.
• Develop Financial Models: Create and maintain robust financial models to support strategic and operational decision-making across the business.
• Conduct Profitability Analysis: Perform in-depth profitability analyses segmented by customer, product category, vendor, and business segment to identify trends and opportunities.
• Manage Accounting Functions: Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and related accounting processes, alongside administering lease accounting in accordance with company policies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, demonstrating a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience: 2-3 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), with specific experience in fixed assets, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
• Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, experience with ERP systems, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills to translate financial data into meaningful business recommendations.
• Bonus: Active professional certifications such as a CPA, CMA, FPAC, or CFA; an advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or an MBA; or experience building dynamic financial dashboards using visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
