Accounting Clerk | Broward Children’s Center
The Tone:
This is an essential administrative and accounting support role at Broward Children’s Center, located in the US. The Accounting Clerk ensures accurate financial records are kept, transactions are processed efficiently, and accounts are properly reconciled. What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Financial Transactions: Accurately review, code, and process all vendor invoices and customer invoices, ensuring they are matched with proper documentation and that payments are correctly applied and recorded within the accounting system.
• Manage Account Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations for bank, credit card, and other financial accounts, assist with general ledger maintenance, and prepare routine journal entries as directed by accounting leadership.
• Maintain Financial Records: Organize and maintain both electronic and physical accounting records, ensuring all invoices, receipts, payment records, and supporting documents are properly filed and readily accessible for review or audits.
• Resolve Discrepancies & Inquiries: Proactively research and resolve any discrepancies found in invoices or payments, and professionally respond to inquiries from vendors, customers, and internal departments regarding account status or documentation.
• Support Month-End & Compliance: Assist with essential month-end and year-end closing activities, review financial records for accuracy, and ensure all processes adhere to established accounting procedures and internal controls, maintaining strict confidentiality.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school diploma or equivalent required, with a basic understanding of accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
• Experience: Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general administrative support is preferred. Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliation processes is required.
• Skills: Strong numerical and data-entry skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, excellent organizational and time-management abilities, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: An Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, as is experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
