Senior Contract Administrator | Construction & Procurement | Microsoft

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Microsoft, located in Querétaro, México. Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals and online services worldwide, encompassing infrastructure, security, and operations. The Global Supply Chain team within CO+I manages complex, multi-billion dollar datacenter construction and lease projects. This role is essential for ensuring the successful execution of contracts related to construction projects, managing agreements, mitigating risks, and driving compliance at job sites within the Querétaro program.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead Contract Sourcing and Negotiation: Perform sourcing activities for various professional services like General Contractors and Project Management, developing strategies, participating in supplier assessments, and preparing contract award proposals.
• Ensure Contractual Compliance and Execution: Guarantee all contractual requirements are met, execute procurement strategies for large, complex data center construction projects, serve as the primary commercial communication point, and manage project closeout.
• Oversee Change Order Management: Assist in negotiating change orders, managing them for various contractor types including General Contractors and Architect Engineers, and actively monitoring and mitigating their impact on projects and partners.
• Coordinate Post-Award Contract Execution: Assume all post-award responsibilities, own commercial decision-making on activities, identify potential challenges, develop mitigation strategies, prepare contractual notices, resolve payment disputes, and facilitate negotiations with contractors.
• Drive Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting: Engage and partner with cross-functional teams including Planning and Strategic Sourcing, drive commercial compliance with contractors and suppliers, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and provide regular status reports and metrics to leadership.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain, Data and Business Analytics, Finance, or a related field. Possesses an understanding of the construction industry and contract language associated with engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM).
• Experience: 3+ years of experience (including internships) in Construction, Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations. Proven experience managing various contract types, including Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), Stipulated Sum, Unit Rate Contracts, T&M, and Incentive Fees.
• Skills: Proficiency in English is essential for global collaboration. Possess strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex contractual landscapes while managing multiple contracts simultaneously. Capable of managing multiple stakeholders and consistently delivering results.
• Bonus: A Master’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data and Business Analytics, Business, Finance, or a related field, coupled with 2+ years of relevant experience. Experience in hyperscale data center or large building construction, either as an owner or general contractor. Proven ability to develop and negotiate contract terms and conditions specifically for services, construction, engineering, and materials. Proficiency in construction management and enterprise systems, including Procore, PMWeb, Primavera P6, MS Project, Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps), Microsoft Dynamics, and Ariba. A comprehensive understanding of the entire lifecycle of contracting principles and legal terms and conditions. Demonstrated experience negotiating various large-scale construction contracts through their lifecycle using methodologies like BATNA, always in the owner’s interest.
