Contracts Manager | Microsoft

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Microsoft, likely based in Finland, with a focus on leading the procurement and contracts management for data center build projects in the Cologne region of Germany. Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is responsible for delivering extensive web portals and online services, including global infrastructure, security, and operations. This role is crucial for establishing and managing the construction services supply chain required to support the ongoing, rapid expansion of the Cloud and its customer base, overseeing complex, multi-billion-dollar datacenter construction projects.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person, Finland
• Pay: EUR 87,000.00 – EUR 201,500.00 yearly
• Team: Contracts Management team within Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I)
• Mission: Lead the procurement and contracts management for data center build projects to establish a robust construction services supply chain.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Procurement Leadership: Lead planning and sourcing strategies to achieve project delivery, budget, and schedule objectives effectively.
• Negotiation Execution: Develop and execute negotiation strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams to secure optimal commercial outcomes.
• Supplier Management: Manage the selection, onboarding, and ongoing performance of suppliers to ensure alignment with business and project goals.
• Contract Administration: Lead the negotiation, execution, and administration of contracts, applying industry best practices and Microsoft’s requirements.
• Performance Oversight: Oversee contract performance, acting as the subject matter expert for supplier compliance, changes, claims, and corrective actions.
• Project Execution Support: Drive project execution by ensuring goods and services are delivered on time, within specification, and with effective risk management.
• Continuous Improvement: Champion process simplification, automation, data analytics, and the adoption of digital procurement tools for ongoing improvements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, OR equivalent experience.
• Experience: Proven years of experience in a Commercial or Contractual Construction Role.
• Skills: Expertise in procurement planning and sourcing strategies, contract negotiation and administration, supplier selection and performance management, contract performance oversight, and risk management within construction projects.
