Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.
The Tone:
This is a full-time management trainee position at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., a leading transportation and logistics company. This role is crucial for developing future leaders who will learn to manage critical aspects of freight movement, driver relations, and customer service. • Pay: $46100–$57600 yearly
• Mission: Learning to manage a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts, ensuring safe and timely movement of freight, load assignment, and providing best-in-class customer service.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Build: Learn to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and reliable outside carriers to minimize turnover and maximize productivity.
• Optimize: Become proficient in maximizing the efficiency and profitability of fleet operations, making recommendations for continuous improvement and measuring key performance indicators.
• Administer: Learn to perform various administrative duties, including payroll, managing the Net-Revenue budget, driver counseling, accident reviews, and analyzing P&L statements.
• Manage Yard: Gain knowledge on how to manage the yard, which involves checking equipment, coordinating preventative maintenance, and performing minor repairs.
• Plan & Monitor: Learn to assign loads, plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements, including managing exceptions and driver ETA adjustments.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field; OR a High School Diploma/GED with at least 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
• Experience: Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations, ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends, and willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Skills: Ability to anticipate and resolve conflicts effectively, accurately analyze situations to make productive decisions, adapt to changing environments, establish and maintain healthy working relationships, and effectively communicate ideas and resolve operational problems.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team.
