Audit Associate – Columbia, SC | Mauldin & Jenkins

What You’ll Actually Do
• Internal Controls: Assist with the study and evaluation of internal accounting controls and test compliance with them.
• Financial Statements: Prepare financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Account Reconciliation: Examine client reconciliations of bank accounts and subsidiary accounts, investigating discrepancies.
• Tax Preparation: Work on S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnership, Multi-State, Individual, trust, and estate tax returns.
• Client Interaction: Interact and work closely with clients and client executives to provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance services.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with a major or concentration in accounting. Entry-Level.
• Experience: Well-rounded knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards, with a working knowledge of Federal and state income tax laws.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, establishing a practice of accuracy in dealing with information, and developing proficiency in the use of available resources.
• Bonus: Currently working towards completing the CPA exam, willingness for overnight travel, and availability to work weekends as deadlines approach.
