Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.
The Tone:
This is a full-time, entry-level position at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., a prominent transportation and logistics organization. This role is crucial for developing future leaders who will ensure the efficient and safe movement of freight, uphold best-in-class customer service, and maintain regulatory compliance within dynamic operational environments. The Manager Trainee will learn foundational skills to manage driver counts and operational shifts, contributing directly to the company’s service reliability and profitability.

• Mission: Learn to manage driver operations, ensure timely and safe freight movement, provide customer service, and maintain DOT compliance.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Driver Relations: Learn to build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and external carriers to ensure seamless setups and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Operational Oversight: Become proficient in maximizing fleet operations efficiency and profitability, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Administrative Duties: Learn to perform various administrative tasks including payroll, budget management, driver counseling, and creating operational or financial reports.
• Freight Management: Learn to assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to ensure safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements.
• Safety & Compliance: Learn to maintain the Company’s safety culture through daily messages, training, and policy enforcement to ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements are met.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field; OR a High School Diploma/GED with one year of relevant experience. This is an entry-level management trainee position.
• Experience: One year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience is required for candidates without a Bachelor’s degree. Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable, work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed, and regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Skills: Ability to anticipate, recognize, and effectively deal with conflicts; accurately analyze situations to reach productive decisions; adapt to changing environments; establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers; meet or exceed team/driver needs; effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas; and recognize, anticipate, and resolve operational problems.
