Finance and Accounting Analyst – Entry Level | National Security Agency
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the National Security Agency, located in Maryland. The NSA employs various business professionals critical to protecting the nation’s security daily. This position supports the internal infrastructure of a federal agency comparable in size and budget to Fortune 100 companies, playing a vital part in financial reporting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Transactions: Process financial transactions, including computing entitlements such as pay, travel, and contractor invoices.
• Payments: Prepare vouchers to authorize payment, issue checks or Electronic Funds Transfer payments, and post certified execution documents to the NSA Finance and Accounting system.
• Analysis: Analyze financial transactions and certify the availability and accountability of funds, as well as entitlement for payment of claims and invoices.
• Reporting: Prepare and certify periodic reports on the status of appropriated funds.
• Support: Work with customers to clarify needs, resolve concerns, and provide timely responses and feedback for financial assistance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field, such as Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Experience: No prior experience required with a Bachelor’s degree. Relevant experience (4 years with a high school diploma/GED, 2 years with an Associate’s degree) must be in financial management areas like accounts payable, accounts receivable, disbursements, reviewing and certifying funds, payroll, or travel accounting.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, exceptional interpersonal skills including active listening and relationship building, strong technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and adaptability to new technologies.
• Bonus: Applicants with a major in Finance or Accounting are strongly preferred. A candidate eager to learn and leverage AI-powered tools to enhance productivity is also desired.
