Investor Accounting Specialist | Trustmark Bank

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Trustmark Bank, an established financial institution providing a range of banking services. The Investor Accounting Specialist is a key contributor within the Mortgage Servicing department, performing critical accounting-related tasks under general supervision. This role ensures the accurate reporting, balancing, and remittance of financial figures to third-party investors, preparing essential reports, and maintaining precise records, directly supporting the bank’s financial operations and compliance within the mortgage sector.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconcile Accounts: Conduct daily and monthly investor bank account reconciliations, researching and resolving all variances within Investor Reporting applications to ensure accuracy.
• Manage Funds: Verify that funds are owed and available for investor principal and interest remittances, advancing funds when necessary to meet required deadlines.
• Report Modifications: Report all loan modifications to investors accurately and timely, covering both traditional loans and other modification types.
• Reconcile Activities: Reconcile actual activities against reported activities for government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) investors such as GNMA (FHA/VA/USDA), FNMA, and FHLMC.
• Support Audits: Research and gather all requested reports and documentation for various internal, external, QC, and investor audits to ensure compliance and transparency.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is a required minimum qualification, suitable for an Entry-Level career stage.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in residential mortgage accounting servicing with a specific focus on Investor Reporting, or alternatively, 1 year of general accounting work experience.
• Skills: Strong knowledge and proficiency with investor accounting principles and concepts, including debits and credits, cash flow requirements, and bank reconciliations. Intermediate to advanced math and Excel skills, and the ability to use a 10-key by touch quickly and accurately.
• Bonus: General knowledge of GSEs (FHLMC, GNMA, FNMA), highly organized with strong detail orientation and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment, and proven analytical skills to assess impact on borrowers, investors, and the company.
