UNPAID STUDENT INTERNSHIP (Intern Pool) | County of Riverside
The Tone:
This is an unpaid student internship with the County of Riverside, offering placements across various departments in Riverside County, CA. The County of Riverside is a significant public sector organization dedicated to delivering a wide array of essential services to its community. This intern pool is critical for connecting current undergraduate or graduate students, as well as recent graduates, with supervised work experience that provides in-service training. Interns will participate directly in the actual duties and responsibilities assigned to professional employees, receiving hands-on experience in their chosen professional vocation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Assist and participate in the day-to-day assigned work of professional employees.
• Research: Aid in special research, studies, surveys, and investigations, including the compilation, tabulation, and analysis of information and data.
• Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of briefs, reports, evaluations, specifications, and plans.
• Observation: Attend divisional and departmental staff meetings, preparing reports of observations, suggestions, and comments regarding various aspects of the department and program.
• Assistance: Perform sub-professional assignments to support professional staff.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current enrollment in, or recent graduation (within one year) from, a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at an accredited college or university in a program relevant to the specific internship. A minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 is required, with proof of most current transcript provided at the time of application.
• Experience: This is an entry-level opportunity designed for students; therefore, no prior professional experience is explicitly required. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the goals and functions of the specific profession relevant to their assigned department. Eligibility extends to recent graduates for up to one year from their graduation date.
• Skills: Key abilities include taking direction and supervision effectively, benefiting and learning rapidly from on-the-job training, thinking logically, writing clearly and concisely, compiling data, performing arithmetical computations, analyzing statistical data, and preparing reports. Additionally, the role requires the ability to learn to operate and use specialized equipment and maintain cooperative relations with co-workers and the public.
