The Tone:
This is a hybrid accounting role located at White Lodging’s headquarters in Merrillville, Indiana. White Lodging develops and operates a portfolio of award-winning premium hotels, rooftop bars, and restaurants across the country, managing over 60 properties. This role is essential for managing the complete general accounting function for an assigned group of hotel properties. The Accountant will own financial statement preparation, general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, and sales tax compliance across multiple markets.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Management: Manage the complete general accounting function for an assigned portfolio of hotel properties, serving as the primary accounting contact.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare periodic hotel income statements and financial reports with accuracy, adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and White Lodging accounting standards.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile balance sheet accounts across all assigned hotel properties, identifying and resolving any discrepancies with a detail-oriented approach.
• Tax Compliance: Prepare monthly Sales and Occupancy Tax returns for all assigned hotel properties, ensuring full compliance with state and local regulations across multiple markets.
• Fee Processing: Prepare Management Fee and Royalty Fee payments accurately and on schedule in accordance with hotel management agreements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; solid understanding of general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Experience: 1+ years of accounting experience preferred, though recent accounting graduates with strong academic foundations are encouraged to apply.
• Skills: Working knowledge of sales and occupancy tax preparation, proficiency in standard accounting software applications, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple hotel assignments and competing deadlines effectively in a hybrid work environment.
• Bonus: Multi-state tax experience and experience with hotel accounting platforms or ERP systems are a plus.
