Freight Coordinator/Admin | Pollard Banknote Limited

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Pollard Banknote Limited, located in Ypsilanti, MI (775 James L Hart Parkway). Pollard Banknote is a world leader in instant ticket manufacturing and digital lottery solutions, shaping the future of gaming with a legacy spanning over a century. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and secure domestic and international coordination and tracking of all product shipments to PBL facilities and customer delivery locations, directly impacting customer satisfaction and operational continuity.

• Team: Shipping and Receiving team
• Mission: Coordinate and track domestic and international shipments of all products to ensure efficient and secure delivery to PBL facilities and customer locations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Load Planning: Create detailed load plans and breakdowns by analyzing customer specifications, product quantities, pallet counts, and weights.
• Shipment Arrangement: Arrange bookings with freight forwarders and trucking companies for the shipment of both finished and ‘work in progress’ products to customers or other PBL facilities.
• Rate Negotiation: Negotiate the best possible rates for all outgoing shipments to ensure cost-efficiency.
• Customer Communication: Notify internal and external customers of shipping and delivery dates, providing continuous updates regarding shipment status.
• Shipment Monitoring: Track all security seals issued on shipments and continuously monitor shipment status to resolve any problems and prevent delays, escalating issues to management or security as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High School Diploma or GED. Core understanding of freight coordination and customer service principles.
• Experience: No specific years of experience required. Proven ability to coordinate complex shipments, analyze information for optimal transport decisions, and deliver excellent customer service.
• Skills: Basic mathematic skills; strong verbal and written communication abilities; keen attention to detail and accuracy; analytical thinking for shipment logistics; ability to adapt, multitask, and work independently.
• Bonus: 49CFR DOT certification; IATA certification; Forklift certification.
