Accountant I/II (2 Year Limited Term) | Inland Empire Utilities Agency
The Tone:
This is a limited-term, full-time role at Inland Empire Utilities Agency, located in Chino, CA. The Agency is a regional wastewater treatment and imported water wholesale distributor serving nearly one million people in western San Bernardino County. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Agency’s financial records. This position supports the Agency’s mission to safeguard public health through reliable utility services and sound financial management.

• Mission: This person will maintain the integrity of the Agency’s financial records by ensuring accurate accounting transactions, reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Tech Stack: SAP, advanced Excel or spreadsheet tools
What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare and analyze accounting transactions, reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Record financial data accurately by preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Support comprehensive financial reporting for the Agency.
• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting policies, procedures, GAAP, and GASB standards.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in accounting or a closely related field.
• Experience: One year of professional accounting experience.
• Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of governmental and fund accounting principles, GAAP, and GASB standards; proficiency in analyzing complex financial data and preparing reports; strong technical skills using enterprise financial systems (such as SAP) and advanced Excel.
• Bonus: Experience in a public agency is preferred; a valid California Class C driver’s license.
