Onboarding Staff Accountant | Kaizen CPAs + Advisors

• Team: Reports to the Onboarding Manager; collaborates with accounting, payroll, tax, and admin teams.
• Mission: To facilitate new client transitions by applying accounting expertise to clean books, perform reconciliations, and prepare initial financial reports for long-term success.
• Tech Stack: QuickBooks Online, Excel, Microsoft Office

What You’ll Actually Do
• Onboarding Work: Clean up and standardize new clients’ QuickBooks Online files to align with Kaizen methodology.
• Financial Preparation: Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, categorize transactions, and draft adjusting journal entries for various accounting needs.
• Client Setup & Reporting: Prepare initial financial statements for review and assist in connecting POS systems, payroll integrations, and other external software.
• Communication & Collaboration: Request necessary financial information from clients, provide progress updates to the Onboarding Manager, and collaborate with internal teams.
• Operational Management: Complete onboarding tasks within the established 30–45 day timeframe and maintain accurate workpapers, to-do lists, and internal reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Foundational understanding of basic accounting concepts, including A/R, A/P, bank reconciliations, payroll posting, revenue recognition, and depreciation.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, journal entries, payroll, and financial statement preparation. QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification is required or must be obtained shortly after hiring.
• Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office, excellent communication and customer service abilities, and a problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail.
• Bonus: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred, along with Advanced QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification.
