Project Management Co-op/Intern-Construction | Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc.
The Tone:
This is a Project Management Co-op/Intern role at Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc., a company recognized as one of the top 10 roofing contractors nationwide. Kalkreuth maintains a forward-thinking vision, specializing in complex commercial exterior envelope applications for diverse markets including automotive, chemical, government, education, and healthcare industries. This position is vital for supporting the Project Management team across the entire project lifecycle, from initial bidding to final closeout. The individual in this role will contribute to the successful execution of projects by providing comprehensive assistance and gaining practical, hands-on experience within a leading construction environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist in Project Bidding and Cost Estimation: Support the project management team in the execution of the contractor bid process by gathering necessary information and completing detailed project take-offs. Furthermore, this role involves contributing to accurate cost estimates to ensure competitive and realistic project proposals.
• Monitor and Manage Approved Projects: Actively participate in the oversight and management of approved projects, which includes monitoring progress and assisting in critical weekly tasks. Engagement in job meetings during capital projects is also a key component, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned.
• Coordinate Equipment Logistics and Deliveries: Provide essential support in managing the procurement and delivery of necessary equipment. This includes assisting in the timely preparation and execution of equipment orders, meticulously tracking their status, and scheduling deliveries precisely in accordance with the overarching construction schedule.
• Facilitate Project Closeout and Vendor Communication: Play a role in the crucial final stages of project completion by assisting with various closeout tasks. These duties encompass preparing punch lists, aiding in final invoicing, and maintaining organized project filing. Additionally, the Co-op/Intern will actively solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors, fostering effective working relationships.
• Ensure Project Compliance, Quality, and Documentation: Contribute to maintaining high standards of project execution by assisting in the inspection of capital projects to ensure compliance with specified requirements and quality control measures. Responsibilities also include assisting in the review of proposed change orders for validity and assessing architecture plans for completeness and adherence to standards. The Co-op/Intern will also participate in production meetings and complete specific assignments as part of their academic program, culminating in a summary presentation to the Executive Team or appropriate Managers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctorate program, indicating an Entry-Level career stage.
• Experience: Required proficiency in various PC programs, particularly encompassing the full suite of Microsoft Office applications for effective documentation and communication.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong organizational, time management, and detail-oriented skills are essential for managing multiple tasks efficiently. The role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with team members, subcontractors, and vendors. Additionally, the ability to conduct oneself professionally in a business setting is a critical qualification.
