Accounting Co-Op – Fall 2026 – SMP Plant | Precision Castparts

The Tone:
This is a full-time co-op position at Precision Castparts, located at the SMP Plant. The role offers a student the opportunity to gain practical experience in financial operations, including P&L exposure, expense processing, and account reconciliations. You will play a key part in analyzing variable costs and ensuring department managers receive crucial financial information to support decision-making. This position is essential for providing hands-on support in accounts analysis and reconciliation work.

• Mission: Analyze variable costs, provide financial information to managers, and support accounts analysis and reconciliation to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze and Report Costs: Prepare and report variable costs, collaborating with department managers to track expenses, including EHS.
• Support Operations: Provide data analysis, respond to financial inquiries, and offer reporting and decision support to the operations team as needed.
• Manage Financial Records: Contribute to the month-end close process by compiling General Ledger entries and reviewing and preparing various prepaid expenses and accruals.
• Reconcile Accounts: Prepare assigned month-end balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure Compliance: Document internal controls for SOX auditing compliance, assist with quarterly testing requirements, and perform internal audits of documents and functions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance, with knowledge of related accounting and finance principles.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
• Skills: Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
