The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at Marathon Petroleum Corporation, located primarily in Findlay, Ohio, with opportunities at additional refinery locations. • Mission: To contribute to and learn the principles of construction management for industrial projects, assisting in the successful planning, execution, and control of refinery construction endeavors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Apply principles learned in Construction Management/Project Controls classes to various refining facility projects.
• Collaborate with contractors and other construction specialists on the specialized industrial construction of projects, ranging from tens of thousands to billions of dollars in value.
• Develop plans and schedules for the allocation of materials, labor, and equipment essential for construction activities.
• Track and analyze project costs, comparing actual expenditures against established control budgets to ensure financial oversight.
• Monitor and report on contractor productivity, progress, and overall performance, providing insights for project optimization.
• Prepare schedule updates and conduct critical path analysis to identify and manage key project timelines and dependencies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level, currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, or other related disciplines.
• Experience: Strong academic performance is required; candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time, indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Skills: Ability to apply learned construction management principles, plan and schedule resources, track and analyze costs, ensure document control compliance, monitor contractor performance, and prepare project documentation. A valid driver’s license is required, and availability to work 40 hours per week is essential.
• Bonus: Availability for multiple work terms is preferred.
