Senior Project Manager | Mayo Clinic

This is a hybrid position at Mayo Clinic, requiring location within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus for occasional on-site expectations based on business needs. Mayo Clinic is a world-renowned healthcare institution, and this Senior Project Manager role is critical to optimizing its financial health and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will specialize in Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), leading complex, high-impact enterprise projects that are vital for safeguarding cash flow. This position plays a key role in bridging essential communication gaps between financial executives, clinical teams, and IT professionals to drive significant financial operational improvements.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Leadership: Independently form and lead complex, high-impact enterprise projects that span hospital billing systems, EHR integrations, and process optimization, aligning all project milestones.
• Project Lifecycle Management: Assume primary responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating, and delivering major, business-critical project activities through the entire project lifecycle, from initiation to customer handoff.
• Financial and Budget Oversight: Lead the development and tracking of project budgets, manage established funds, and ensure all project objectives are completed on time, within budget, and adhere to Mayo Clinic’s project management standards.
• Agile Implementation and Team Coaching: Apply and monitor Agile methodologies, including scrum processes and meetings, while guiding and coaching teams on Agile practices, removing impediments, and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Stakeholder Integration & Mentorship: Bridge communication between hospital financial executives, clinical documentation teams, and IT professionals; facilitate decision-making, and mentor other staff on project management practices and standards.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 7 years of experience, in Project Management and business-related activities, specializing in Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of Project Management experience (7 years with a Master’s degree), including leading large, strategically important projects and implementing or optimizing major Electronic Health Records (EHR) or billing software like Epic.
• Skills: Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required; proficiency in Agile methodologies including scrum processes and team coaching; advanced budget management, problem-solving, and negotiation skills; ability to bridge complex IT systems, clinical documentation, and hospital financial performance.
• Bonus: Certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner, Risk Management Professional (RMP), or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP); ability to facilitate decision-making under high pressure and track key milestones; authorization to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
