Public Relations Internship | ElectraCast Media

The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at ElectraCast Media, located remotely across the United States. ElectraCast Media is a podcast-first entertainment media company and record label dedicated to creating community and amplifying diverse voices through compelling entertainment and story. This role is crucial for supporting our marketing efforts by publicizing our podcast, music, and book releases, directly contributing to our mission of expanding reach and community. The intern will gain professional experience and expert guidance from an entertainment advertising executive.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Press Releases: Draft compelling press releases for upcoming podcast, music, and book releases.
• Media Outreach: Research, maintain, and expand media contact databases to support outreach campaigns for distributed and original productions.
• Strategy Support: Assist in the development of public relations strategies and pitch story ideas to journalists, bloggers, and industry influencers.
• Media Monitoring: Monitor media coverage, compile press clippings, and create comprehensive coverage reports.
• Digital Engagement: Find and actively engage with online forums and social media platforms to publicize content and foster community.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a college/university or a recent graduate (within the past 6 months) majoring in public relations or communications. This is an unpaid internship for experience and, if applicable, school credit.
• Experience: 1-2 years minimum experience or education in public relations, communications, or journalism, with proven experience in press release writing and media pitch development.
• Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong research abilities for identifying relevant media contacts and opportunities, strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines, understanding of the media landscape (traditional, digital, and trade publications), and knowledge of social media platforms in PR strategy.
• Bonus: Experience with entertainment industry PR or media relations, a keen interest in the entertainment industry, and an active podcast listener.
