Lead Accountant | Veritas Search Group

The Tone:
This is a hybrid role, located in Tustin, CA, requiring candidates to be currently authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; C2C arrangements are not accepted. Veritas Search Group is seeking a Lead Accountant to join their team. This position is critical for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of financial operations, owning complex accounting areas, and driving continuous process improvement within a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Lead core general ledger activities, including month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Financial Analysis: Perform detailed variance analysis and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Technical Accounting Ownership: Own technical accounting areas such as lease accounting and depreciation schedules, and maintain balance sheet accounts including accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets.
• Process Improvement: Drive improvements and automation in accounting workflows to increase efficiency and scalability.
• Audit & Compliance Support: Prepare and maintain audit-ready schedules, provide support for annual audits, and assist with compliance activities including sales tax filings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. This role requires an experienced accounting professional who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and solve complex accounting issues.
• Experience: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong general ledger and month-end close experience, and experience working in ERP systems (NetSuite or similar preferred).
• Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency, highly analytical with strong attention to detail, process-oriented with a mindset for continuous improvement, proactive and self-motivated, and strong cross-functional communication skills.
• Bonus: CPA or progress toward certification, a Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or experience with reporting tools, data environments, or accounting process automation. A background supporting audits and regulated reporting environments is also preferred.
