What You’ll Actually Do
• Operational Support: Support daily product handling and retail sales operations across various 84 Lumber locations nationwide, gaining comprehensive insight into the company’s core business functions.
• Logistics & Equipment: Engage in freight handling activities, operate forklifts, and obtain required certifications to ensure efficient material flow and safety within store environments.
• Inventory Management: Manage merchandising strategies, implement inventory control procedures, and execute reduction initiatives to optimize stock levels and store profitability.
• Estimating & Design: Learn to create accurate material estimates directly from blueprints, contributing to sales and project planning for residential and commercial construction clients.
• Strategic Projects: Assist with specialized projects focused on addressing staffing shortages and enhancing operational needs, providing critical support to diverse store environments during periods of high demand or specific requirements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED-equivalent to begin this management career path.
• Experience: This role requires a willingness to engage in extensive travel, making up 95%+ of your time with assignments lasting 5 to 12 consecutive days nationwide, and the readiness to relocate for management positions upon successful completion of the learning plan.
• Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is essential for administrative and operational tasks. Candidates must also be available for a full-time schedule, typically 48+ hours per week.
