Nexstar Sacramento operates KTXL FOX40, a news station in a top 20 market, committed to delivering news content across multiple platforms. This role is crucial for overseeing all aspects of KTXL FOX40 news, leading diverse teams, and ensuring the execution of top-quality newscasts that make a difference in the community. The director will develop talented journalists, support a progressive culture, and grow the audience within a changing media landscape.

• Mission: Oversee all aspects of KTXL FOX40 news operations, lead diverse teams, and grow audience across multiple platforms.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead the news team to produce top-quality newscasts that serve and make a difference in the community.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to expand audience reach across all distribution channels, including OTT.
• Provide direction for day-to-day news coverage, breaking news, special projects, and investigative reporting.
• Actively promote cultural change and drive improvements within the newsroom, fostering collaboration and open communication.
• Recruit, hire, coach, and develop a diverse staff, ensuring the retention of high-level journalistic talent.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Director-level experience in newsroom management with an emphasis on digital-first content and strategic planning.
• Experience: At least 7 years in newsroom management, with a proven record in digital-first execution, breaking news, enterprise, and investigative reporting. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new processes and build collaborative environments.
• Skills: Excellent news judgment, strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects, solid business acumen, and expertise in interpreting research for news product improvement.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, or Broadcast is preferred.
