Loss Prevention Clerk | Costco Wholesale
The Tone:
This is an early career role at Costco Wholesale, located in various Costco warehouses. Costco is a large membership warehouse club, operating an organization of significant scale, providing quality goods and services. This role is critical for protecting company assets from theft, reducing inventory shrink, ensuring a safe environment for members and employees, and upholding operational integrity. This position directly contributes to the security and financial health of the warehouse, while also providing high-level member service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Protect company assets by continuously monitoring warehouse operations and the perimeter for safety and security hazards.
• Identify, investigate, and address internal and external theft threats, including retrieving concealed items.
• Conduct detentions and interviews with suspects when warranted, reporting potential internal theft situations to management.
• Prepare comprehensive internal and potential prosecution reports, manage collected evidence, and document cases using the Nettrack system.
• Cooperate with local law enforcement, exchange information with other Loss Prevention personnel, and provide court testimony when necessary.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Core domain knowledge in loss prevention, asset protection, and operational security principles.
• Experience: No specific years required. Experience with observing, detecting, investigating, and reporting security incidents is essential.
• Skills: Knowledge of Costco procedures and applicable laws; ability to operate vehicles, equipment, or machinery; strong communication for interviews and collaboration; capacity to prepare detailed reports and manage evidence.
