• Team: Leads the overall operation of the Activity Department.
• Mission: Plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Activity Department to assure an ongoing program of activities designed to meet the interests and well-being of each resident.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Department Leadership & Policy: Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operations of the Activity Department, including assisting in the development, administration, and coordination of departmental policies and procedures.
• Program Development & Resident Well-being: Design, implement, and assure an ongoing program of activities that specifically meets the interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
• Regulatory & Documentation Compliance: Ensure the activity program and departmental operations consistently comply with current federal and state regulations and professional standards, alongside ensuring all charted activity progress notes are informative, descriptive, accurate, and current.
• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Develop and maintain strong working rapport with other departments in the facility to ensure administrative services and activities are properly supported and integrated.
• Activity Planning & Safety Oversight: Plan, organize, and communicate a monthly calendar of events, oversee group activities, arrange travel for off-site activities, and ensure all staff and participants follow safety protocols.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a certification as an Activities/Recreation professional, demonstrating expertise in the field of activity programming and resident engagement. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience that aligns with the scope of this leadership role.
• Experience: A minimum of three years of progressive experience working within a long-term care setting is required, providing a foundational understanding of the unique needs of residents in such environments.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize, and direct comprehensive activity programs, ensure compliance with relevant federal and state regulations, and maintain strong interpersonal communication for team and resident engagement. CPR and First Aid certifications are required within 90 days of employment and will be provided by Deer Meadows.
