Laboratory and Facilities Manager | Sai Life Sciences Ltd

This is a full-time role at Sai Life Sciences Ltd, located in Watertown, MA. Sai Life Sciences is a leading global contract research and manufacturing organization that provides services to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The Watertown location serves as an anchor in the Boston area, enabling partnerships with world-class companies to address unique drug discovery problems. This position is crucial for overseeing, planning, executing, and supporting the operations of the laboratory and the facility, ensuring day-to-day safety, maintenance, and functionality for a growing team.

• Mission: This role ensures the day-to-day safety, maintenance, and functionality of the laboratory and facility while also assisting with logistics and sourcing for Global Discovery and CMC Teams.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Lab Operations & Safety: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, conduct regular laboratory inspections, and maintain overall cleanliness and safety in the laboratory.
• Equipment Management: Oversee the installation of lab equipment, provide training, and ensure team members are trained to use laboratory equipment, software, and supplies safely and efficiently.
• Inventory & Logistics: Monitor inventory, order supplies, record and track orders, coordinate with Accounts Payable for payments, and manage shipping/receiving locally, nationally, and overseas.
• Facility Management: Regularly monitor the site to identify and address potential issues, ensure the facility is safe and compliant, manage relationships with vendors and contractors, and establish efficient working processes.
• Team Collaboration & Leadership: Lead monthly lab operations meetings with the teams and collaborate to achieve objectives and enhance the organization’s overall performance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in business management, life sciences, Engineering, or a related field, suitable for a managerial role.
• Experience: Knowledge of OSHA and safety requirements, familiarity with scientific equipment, and the ability to operate and maintain machines. This includes being able to lift and move heavy (> 50lb) laboratory equipment and the ability to be on call after-hours for urgent or emergency situations.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, strong project management, and robust planning and critical thinking skills.
• Bonus: Certification for IATA/DOT is desirable.
