Director of Plant Operations | The Grand Healthcare System

The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person role at The Grand Healthcare System, operating a long-term care facility. The Grand Healthcare System is a skilled nursing facility dedicated to providing quality care. This crucial leadership position ensures the facility is impeccably maintained, fully compliant with all safety and regulatory standards, and provides a comfortable, efficient, and safe environment for both residents and staff. The person in this role directly impacts the daily operations and well-being of the facility’s community.

• Pay: $85000.00 to $95,000.00 yearly
• Team: Leads Maintenance and Housekeeping Teams; reports to facility leadership.
• Mission: Owns the overall facility management, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for residents and staff.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Facility Inspections & Safety Oversight: Conduct regular inspections of the facility to ensure all areas meet safety, cleanliness, and operational standards, including assessing equipment performance, building conditions, and identifying areas requiring immediate repair or maintenance.
• Management of Maintenance and Housekeeping Teams: Supervise, assign, and coordinate the daily tasks of maintenance and housekeeping staff, overseeing team schedules and performance to ensure timely and effective task completion, while providing necessary guidance and training.
• Scheduling and Completion of Repairs: Ensure all required maintenance and repairs are scheduled promptly and completed to high standards, diligently monitoring ongoing work to guarantee quality outcomes.
• Vendor and Contract Management: Provide comprehensive oversight of contracted services for maintenance, repairs, and janitorial needs, ensuring all services are completed on time and in strict accordance with agreement terms.
• Regulatory Compliance and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all repairs, preventative maintenance, warranties, and inspections, ensuring all work and facility operations comply with Local, State, Federal, OSHA, Life Safety Code, DOH, and CMS standards.
• Emergency Response & Leadership: Be available to handle emergency situations and facility issues requiring immediate attention, including after-hours on-call responsibilities, while providing strong leadership to the plant operations team and fostering a culture of accountability and professionalism.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Director level role requiring a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Extensive hands-on experience across HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general facility maintenance is required.
• Skills:
• Strong leadership and supervisory abilities to effectively manage diverse teams.
• Excellent organizational skills, enabling multitasking, prioritization, and focused decision-making in high-pressure situations.
• Effective communication skills for interacting clearly with staff, vendors, and facility leadership.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Life Safety Code, DOH regulations, CMS standards, and OSHA safety guidelines for ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency with MS Office and basic computer systems for record-keeping, reporting, and communication tasks.
• Bonus: Prior supervisory experience within a skilled nursing facility or long-term care (LTC) setting is highly preferred. Additional technical certifications or college coursework in building management, facilities management, or a related field are a plus.
