(General Hire) Software Engineer Intern (Trust and Safety-Engineering) – 2027 Summer | TikTok

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at TikTok, which operates globally with headquarters in Los Angeles and Singapore. TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, aiming to inspire creativity and bring joy to everyone. The Trust and Safety engineering team is critical for protecting users from harmful content and abusive behaviors, thereby ensuring the best user experience. This role supports that mission by contributing to the development of essential content moderation and safety systems.

• Mission: Protect users from harmful content and abusive behaviors by building and supporting content moderation and safety systems.
• Tech Stack: Go, Python, PHP, C++, C, Java

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate: Deliver key results by working with Trust and Safety experts, machine learning engineers, and other cross-functional teams.
• Design: Create technical solutions alongside team members to address various challenges.
• Implement: Build and integrate technical solutions to effectively support business requirements.
• Contribute: Help develop and maintain content moderation process systems, rule engines, strategy systems, feature engines, human moderation platforms, and risk insight systems.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: Prior experience working with languages such as Go, Python, PHP, C++, C, or Java.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Data Structures and Algorithms, coupled with strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Bonus: Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internships, work experience, projects, or coding competitions, along with high levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.
