The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Aflac, offering either a hybrid work model in Columbus, GA, or Columbia, SC, or a fully remote setup within the continental US. The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: Remote, Kansas, United States (or Hybrid in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC for those within 50 miles of these offices)
• Pay: $100000–$135000 yearly
• Mission: Ensure accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and compliance in underwriting activities for Group Life, Disability, and Leave products.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Quality Assurance: Perform thorough quality reviews of Underwriter’s quoted activities, meticulously assessing them for accuracy and strict adherence to established guidelines, authority levels, company processes, and all relevant compliance regulations.
• Process Improvement: Proactively identify recurring trends in underwriting performance and lead the recommendation and implementation of strategic solutions through targeted training programs, detailed best practice documentation, and necessary updates to tools and systems.
• Project Leadership: Spearhead and actively participate in critical projects specifically designed to significantly enhance overall Underwriting accuracy, operational efficiency, consistency in application, and comprehensive compliance across all products.
• Training & Development: Design and deliver comprehensive training sessions to Underwriters, focusing on evolving guidelines and best practices, thereby ensuring a high level of expertise and consistent application of standards within the team.
• Reporting & Financial Support: Generate detailed quality management reports for leadership, providing actionable insights into performance, and actively assist in the essential Financial Booking process to maintain financial integrity.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. This role requires an individual with a manager-level understanding of Group Life, Disability, and Leave products, coupled with significant expertise in auditing methodologies, best practice implementation, and adult learning principles for training.
• Experience: A minimum of 6 years of direct experience specifically within Group Life, Long-Term Disability (LTD), Short-Term Disability (STD), and/or Absence Products. This includes a proven track record in building and implementing key strategic initiatives, along with experience reviewing case pricing to ensure pricing accuracy.
• Skills: Possess advanced and in-depth technical knowledge of Group Life, Disability, and Leave products. Demonstrated proficiency in auditing principles, developing best practices, and delivering effective training. Strong capability in presenting complex information to multiple levels of leadership, alongside excellent relationship-building, presentation, negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Bonus: A strong track record of fostering business improvement and successfully delivering impactful change within a complex insurance environment.
