Senior, Cost Accounting | Anduril Industries

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Anduril Industries. The company is a defense technology firm dedicated to transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology, including AI, autonomy, computer vision, and sensor fusion. This role is critical for driving accuracy, insight, and control across Anduril’s development, manufacturing, and production operations as the company prepares for potential future growth. The Senior, Cost Accounting will ensure consistent and compliant application of costing methodology, playing a key part in the financial health and future readiness of the organization.

• Team: Reports to the Manager, Cost Accounting
• Mission: Execute full stack cost accounting for a portion of Anduril’s product portfolio, ensuring accurate product costing, variance analysis, and margin reporting.
• Tech Stack: ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar), data analysis tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Costing Improvement: Perform and continuously improve standard costing practices to ensure accurate product costing, variance analysis, and margin reporting for designated product lines and production sites.
• Close Process Management: Responsible for a portion of the Company’s cost accounting close process, including cost roll-ups, variance analysis, absorption reporting, and reconciliations of inventory and work-in-process.
• Internal Controls & Inventory: Support adherence to internal controls to strengthen financial accuracy and compliance, identify and remediate control deficiencies, and administer physical and cycle count programs.
• Audit & Partnership: Interface directly with external auditors on cost accounting and inventory-related matters and partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to analyze manufacturing performance and efficiency.
• Government Contracts & IPO Readiness: Support pricing, cost proposal, and audit requirements related to U.S. government contracts (FAR/CAS), and contribute to IPO readiness initiatives, including audit preparation and systems scalability.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 5-7 years of progressive cost accounting experience in manufacturing environments.
• Experience: Proven experience with standard costing in complex, low-volume, high-dollar manufacturing environments, with the ability to grow into high-volume settings, and demonstrated experience maintaining effective internal controls and supporting external audits.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of U.S. government contracting cost principles (FAR/CAS), advanced proficiency with ERP systems and data analysis tools, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across functions and influence senior leadership, and must be a U.S. Person.
• Bonus: A CPA or CMA certification is preferred, along with prior experience in a privately held company preparing for an IPO.
