Senior Consultant, Financial Instruments & Technology | Kroll

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Kroll. Kroll stands as a global leader in risk and financial advisory solutions, leveraging trusted expertise and cutting-edge technology to navigate industry complexities. As a market leader in illiquid portfolio analysis, Kroll’s Alternative Asset Management professionals assist clients with complex valuations. This role is crucial within the Financial Instruments and Technology practice, which provides leading solutions for asset managers, hedge funds, fund administrators, banks, insurers, and corporations. You will contribute to addressing valuation issues surrounding alternative investments, working with bespoke investment structures and asset classes of institutional investor clientele.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop Expertise: Develop deep technical strength in the valuation of alternative assets, gaining exposure to high-profile clients and industry professionals.
• Review Documentation: Review investment memoranda, governing documents of structured investments, board of directors’ presentations, and client models.
• Design Models: Assist in the design of financial models for discounted cash flow, market multiple, market transaction, and option pricing analyses.
• Perform Valuation: Perform valuation analysis on a wide range of illiquid investments broadly distributed across industries and geographies, utilizing accepted and relevant approaches and theory.
• Present Findings: Report and present analyses and conclusions, developing written reports and assisting in the presentation of work products internally and to clients.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (or equivalent, such as CFA) or an MBA from an accredited college/university.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-6 years of valuation experience, specifically constructing and reviewing enterprise valuation models (DCF, market approaches) and other structured investment models.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a fundamental understanding of financial valuation theory, methodologies, and applications, excellent financial statement analysis with attention to detail, and familiarity with relevant accounting standards.
• Bonus: Experience with credit analysis or structured securities (CLOs, CMBS, RMBS, ABS) including tools like Intex, and direct experience with VBA, Python, and Power BI.
