Fall 2026 Strategy & Policy State Team Intern | National Women’s Law Center

The Tone:
This is an internship at the National Women’s Law Center, offered for Fall 2026, with flexible options for remote, hybrid, or in-person work. The National Women’s Law Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting for gender justice across courts, public policy, and society, particularly focusing on issues central to the lives of women and girls, including women of color, LGBTQ+ people, and low-income families. This critical role supports the Center’s efforts to build the State Gender Policy Collective, helping to drive progressive change in policies and laws across the states to ensure all women and girls can live, learn, and work with safety, dignity, and equality.

• Team: Reports to the State Policy Senior Counsel
• Mission: This person will support the State Gender Policy Collective’s efforts to monitor policy trends and build resources for gender justice across states.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Resource Management: Support the ongoing development and meticulous maintenance of the State Gender Policy Collective’s Resource Hub, ensuring resources are accessible and up-to-date.
• Outreach: Facilitate state legislator research and coordinate outreach efforts to state legislators and relevant advocacy organizations to foster collaboration.
• Policy Monitoring: Systematically monitor policy trends and developments across various states, focusing on key gender justice issues such as childcare, economic justice, reproductive rights, healthcare, workplace justice, education justice, and LGBTQI+ rights.
• Content Development: Contribute to the strategic development and organized management of content for the State Gender Policy Collective Newsletter and related blogs.
• Administrative Support: Provide essential administrative tasks, including precise relationship tracking and efficient scheduling, to ensure smooth operational flow.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires current enrollment in an undergraduate program. This is an entry-level position that necessitates a foundational understanding of gender justice issues through an intersectional lens.
• Experience: Candidates must demonstrate prior experience or a strong interest in research, advocacy, or policymaking environments. This role also requires demonstrated experience and sound judgment in working both collaboratively within a team and effectively as an independent contributor.
• Skills: Essential skills include strong research capabilities and excellent writing proficiency, complemented by robust analytical, oral, and written communication abilities. The successful candidate will also exhibit flexibility, creativity, initiative, and superior organizational, planning, and project management skills.
