Assistant Manager | Black River Barn South Haven

The Tone:
This is a full-time, salaried role at Black River Barn South Haven, located in South Haven, MI. Black River Barn is an events venue focused on creating tailored experiences for clients, and this position is crucial for ensuring seamless daily operations and exceptional customer service. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Senior Assistant Manager, playing a key role in upholding the company’s core values: acting with integrity, being humble, elevating others, being an ambassador, evolving and adapting, and enjoying the journey. This role directly contributes to the success of each event and the satisfaction of every client.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Salaried (minimum 45 working hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Location: In-person, South Haven, MI

• Team: Works closely with the Senior Assistant Manager, reports to the Director Of Operations.
• Mission: Owns the successful execution of client events from initial inquiry and planning stages through on-site management and post-event follow-up, ensuring tailored requests are met and high standards of service are maintained.
• Tech Stack: Social media programs (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest), complex IT programs, proficient computer skills.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Event Planning & Coordination: Assist with the comprehensive planning, preparation, and organization required for successful events at Black River Barn.
• Client Interaction & Sales Support: Facilitate venue tours for potential clients, both in-person and virtually, and address all incoming questions and communications to guide them through the booking process.
• On-site Event Management: Serve as the primary on-site manager for all events, overseeing set-up, tear down, and ensuring a smooth client experience, including closing procedures at the end of the night.
• Client & Vendor Relations: Act as the main point of contact during events, expertly answering questions and addressing any concerns from BRB clients, their guests, and all third-party vendors to maintain high satisfaction.
• Marketing & Communication Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic marketing plan, encompassing content gathering, the creation of engaging marketing broadcasts, and providing valuable feedback to Management for continuous improvement.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possesses a High School Diploma or GED, bringing core domain knowledge in event management or related fields such as hospitality or business administration to effectively manage venue operations and client relations.
• Experience: Requires 1-2 years of direct experience in event management, OR holds a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hospitality, Event Management, Business Administration, or a closely related major.
• Skills: Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding organizational abilities, diligence and attention to detail, working knowledge of social media programs (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest), and the ability to successfully manage a team.
